pasted text vs. returns

Ok, for like the umpteenth time when I went to paste something from say Internet Explorer into my livejournal window after I hit "SUBMIT" all of the returns disappeared, e.g.

this
where
there are clearly
returns

became

thiswherethere are clearlyreturns

E.g. the returns became NOTHING not even a space. This is replicated in copies from BBEdit irrespective of whether or not I use \n or \r as the line ending terminator.

Anyone else seeing this, fix?

I am. Anytime I paste something I have to remember to go in and manually replace all the returns.

It's been an issue for a long time.

Yes, this is known... I haven't come up with a fix yet. I believe it only occurs when pasting from a carbon or classic app to a cocoa app... it's only my list though (it's in the bug tracker at sourceforge).

let me ask a stupid question then
...can we at least put up a dialog box or some such as a warning with a clicky to go away?

...or can we detect when the clipboard is coming from carbon/cocoa and do something?

...or can we process through the line ends in the clipboard and do something?

The NON WYSIWYG aspect of this is brutal and trying to fix posts after the fact is brutal too...

BTW, is there anyway to tie into the "PREVIEW" feature from a client so we could see our posts before submitting?
