I've never had to do it myself, but can't you just modify that through the Preferences in the application?

I don;t know! You need to be logged in to get to the preferences panel and I can;t get logged in because I work behind an authicated proxy server. It's all one big visious circle!

The readme file that comes with the iJournal download says that I can modify the proxy preferences of iJournal from the preferences file but doesn;t give the line of code to add.

If you have the dev tools installed, you can use 'PropertyListEditor' to edit the .plist file with a GUI interface.

I just had to edit this file myself, and found it useful.

Alternatively, you can edit it in any /plain text/ text editor. I'd recommend BBEdit.

You need to add this:

        <key>proxyCheckBox</key>
        <string>1</string>
        <key>proxyPort</key>
        <string>1234</string>
        <key>proxyServer</key>
        <string>proxy.somewhere.org</string>

Obviously, change the port number and server.

And I think that letting us change the proxy settings (possibly a button on the login sheet?) before logging in should be considered an essential feature. Users shouldn't have to manually edit a .plist file...

many thanks,

have put in that code, but still no joy.
I am workng behind an authenticated proxy, and have to enter my username and password each time i open a web browser. Do you know if iJournal supports this?

Looking at the preferences, there's no space to enter a username and password, so I'd have to assume it doesn't support it. Sorry. :o/

Oh well, all i can hope is that the developers (if they are listening) can fix it in the next release.

Here's hopeing.
Thanks again.
