Default Security Patch

I've updated my default security patch to work with the lastest CVS version of iJournal.

This patch allows you to change the default security setting on your journal (to private, friends only, or even a specific friend group) but to still change the security setting of each post. This patch has been discussed before, its also mentioned on sourceforge. I sent the patch to cryo yesterday, but haven't heard back yet.

The patch, the MainMenu.nib, and the README can be found here.

I do not know how to build from cvs yet -- can someone help out with step by step instructions?

anyway, for that reason, if someone can post a precompiled patched .tgz or .gz, I'd appreciate it (my Disk Copy is not mounting images correctly right now) -- thank you!

A working patched version can be downloaded from here.

Downloaded -- but seems to not quite work. the security dropdown contains 'item1' 'item2' 'item3' and always resets to 'item1' after restart. New entries start with 'public' security.

Very promising and a needed feature. Now if only we could batch edit security on past posts...

Try downloading again.

Batch changing would require a change to the LJ protocol. Don't look for this feature anytime soon, though it might appear as a command in the livejournal console if enough people ask for it.

CVS checkout requires using the Terminal. Start by opening a terminal window. Asuming the default tcsh (echo $0 to find out), use these commands:
setenv CVSROOT ':pserver:anonymous@cvs.ijournal.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/ijournal'
cvs login

no password, just hit return.
cvs -z3 get iJournal

Building from the terminal:
cd iJournal
pbxbuild

Or open iJournal.pbproj with ProjectBuilder and click on the hammer.

Any of these options require Apple's Developer Tools to be installed.

patch looks ok. The only thing I saw was having to change the name from defaultSecurity to look like Security: [default]
