birthdays?

any chance of adding the list of your Friends' birthdays to the software? I noticed one of the wintel clients has this, and it's very cool....doesn't even use a browser window, it's there at login (lochjournal maybe?)

Please? pretty please?

sure thing.

How it would work would be that window/panel would open in iJournal that automatically showed your Friends, Groups etc. You could make changes to them directly, rather than use the web interface (currently IJ only opens the specific web page).

Birthdays could be a separate window, or could be in this main, non-posting window.

Why? Well for those of us who fried out too many brain cells in the 80s, rather than having to remember to check http://www.livejournal.com/birthdays.bml daily, the info would be right there. Then our friends would be so pleased that we remembered that they'd love us.

So it's all about love really. Or not. that make any sense?

Yes, but can the LJ protocol actually return that data now or do we need to do some sort of ugly screenscaping to make it work?

It is in the API
http://www.livejournal.com/doc/server/ljp.csp.flat.getfriends.html

It should be relatively straight forward to ask for this data and parse it out of the returned data.

I can't do this right now since I am in the middle of a large re-factoring of the iJounralController class. Not to mention the whole final exam thing.
