I'm sorry, but this was extremely frustrating. I just spent about an hour working on a long entry offline. when I finished writing, I connected to the internet and selected "login as" from the journal menu. while it logged in me, however, ijournal deleted my entire entry, and without even giving me a chance to save it! surely there must be a way to fix this?!

since you're using 1.54, you should be in luck! search your entire hard drive for files named ".iJarchive" ; i think that should find your draft, hopefully.
tell me if you're successful.
p.s. how did you manage to get into "offline" mode anyway?

Old post, I know, but I just encountered the same problem and came here looking for answers. A hard drive search for ijarchive doesn't turn it up, but does turn up the rest of my archived entries (known because I stopped using iJournal in late May when I went home and started using a computer that didn't have iJournal).

I got to "offline" mode by using dialup and not dialing in before opening iJournal. So, basically, it didn't record me as being logged in under any username (that dropdown was blank, as were the security, picture, etc). I hit save entry when I was 3/4 the way done and it just said "Saving Entry" across the bottom as I finished up. I then dialed in to my server, logged into iJournal, and *poof!*, entry went bye-bye.

Any other ideas?

i have to say, why bother typing it in iJ? I always write my entries in TextEdit, saving frequenlty. Then i just copy the whole thing and post, check for html errors, etc.
Works well.

Re: well....
Ah, but iJ theoretically auto-saves every minute or so (and has, in fact, recovered a post-in-progress or three when I quit intentionally). Not that I use it much, anyway, but I did for a few months there, so say my archives from Feb-May of this year. I've switched to almost exclusively using the web interface, and will probably do what you're doing for offline-typed posts in the future.

I was posting here because it was something that had come up, so was wondering if there was an answer, because I lost an entry that had taken me quite some time to write up. To think I learned to backup my work back in 3rd grade. Ah well, thanks anyway.
