Is anyone out there?

Are there many active users of iJournal out there? I am starting to wonder if we have a user base, at all, anymore.

I have seen very little work going on and very few users posting so I am wondering if there is any interest in the work I have been doing on the DEVEL_1 branch. I am beginning to wonder if all the time I am putting into this is simply going to go to waste. Is anyone out there still using iJournal and interested in its on-going development? I can package up a binary of what I have right now if anyone is interested and I can keep working on it but I have a full-time job and a distance education course for the next four months while on my last co-op term so it would be nice to have some help from the other developers or, at least, some enthusiasm from some interested users to keep me focussed.

The re-factoring is nearly done and this will let us do some neat stuff in the future.

So, am I the only one here or is anyone else interested in this?

thoughts from a (former?) dev
I think this work your doing will help. Right now, the codebase is in a state where it is hard to make enhancements. Also, there isn't another open source client for the mac that I know of.

I'm all for your effort. Keep it up.

I think that xJournal is also open source. I am not sure, though.

The code base in DEVEL_1 is much nicer since the networking layer has been completely pulled out into its own module and the communication between that layer and the rest of the client is done only through high-level objects.

The great thing about that is that you no longer have to know the LJ protocol to add a new button to the UI (which was pretty much how it is on the trunk).

pretty sure xJournal is closed source: http://www.speirs.org/xjournal/
actually, fraser did a bit of development on iJournal back a while ago.

the work you're doing sounds great. the codebase can pretty much only get better.

i hope you'll be able to bring it back to the trunk soon.
