I just joined to post this one thing...

I use LiveJournal/iJournal quite a bit while connected via a by-the-minute wireless access subscription. Given that you must log in and stay logged in while using the app, I end up spending many of my minutes while journaling. Perhaps someone has already suggested this...

I wish iJournal allowed one to log in after writing (or during, or whenever).

Gotta go now... the minutes are dwindling.

iJournal doesn't maintain a persistent connection to the server. It will open a network connection, login, then close the network connection. Then, when you post, it will open a network connection, send the message, then close the network connection. The only thing that might be viewed as 'persistant' would be the CheckFriends, which isn't on by default. That will open a connection, check if there were any new posts, then close it... every 45-60 seconds. If this is what you are seeing and it's keeping your cell connection up, then I'd recommend turning it off ;). We do have plans to allow offline entries, with the ability to send them up in a batch when the network connection is brought up or a manual request happens, but that won't be a for a couple of releases.

Followed your instructions by logging in, changing the prefs to not check for new friends entries, and logged off my mobilestar connection. Just when I started typing, I got an alert that said, "http moved" followed by "LiveJournal has unexpectedly quit". I'm running os 10.1.3 on an iBook. Guess I should use textedit and then paste until the later versions. Thanks again.

Actually, that happens to me as well (and I'm also on an iBook).

I do have CheckFriends turned on, but whenever iJournal can't connect to the server, it jumps up and down saying that it couldn't connect, and then...

...it quits.

It is a little annoying, as I've been writing a couple of long entires, and then it suddenly just 'couldn't connect' and quits - which makes me go back and have to retype all of it up again. I'm personally not a huge fan of YaxJournal's layout (IMHO, iJournal's is much neater and simpler, just as it should be), and I've gotten rather attached to ijournal's shortcuts. ^^*

In cases like these, would it be possible to retrieve that lost text from a cache, or something along those lines?

Just my own experience...

so you guys have been keeping this a secret for how long? :(

The good news is that I believe a fix was checked in a while back, and will be in the next release (due out soon).

Thanks, Cyro.

I was going to post about it soon, though... ^^*

pasted journal text wraps weird
If i use BBEdit (or other text editor) to type my response without iJournal and then paste into the box it looses all of the carriage returns.

Re: I would love to be a Live Journal Member!
I apologize for responding to an off-topic comment, but just to let you know Courtney that the code system is nearing it's end so just tough it out. Here are the details.
