Privacy defaults

Sorry if this is a repeat question, I read back a bit and didn't find it...

I want to change my default privacy setting from Public to Friends. In other clients this is easy to do in the preferences, but I can't find it in iJournal. Is there a way to do it that I've missed?

If there isn't currently a way to do this I can see about writing a patch to do it.

I can't speak for iJournal's functionality (I haven't seen the option, though), but you can do this using the LJ console. Just go there and type in: set newpost_minsecurity friends

That will make all future posts in your journal friends-only, according to the FAQ.

(Sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for...)

Not quite what I'm getting at. I still want to be able to choose what my security is. I just want the default to be Friends. I'd rather forget to change it and have too few people see my unimportant stuff, than forget and have strangers see private info.

Here's what it looks like in the logjam client.

As far as I can tell....
iJournal doesn't have that feature at this time. I believe the mechanism is that it rolls over the last settings to the next post. Thisof course can be annoying if you've posted to 'iJournl' quit and then on next run post about a breakup. On.. iJournal. (While I haven't done this on iJournal or posted about breakups, I have posted on macosx personal posts one too many times)

I've logged that as a feature request and the dev team will look into it.

Re: As far as I can tell....
You can change the settings in preferences so it doesn't save your previous settings. Go to preferences and select "Reset After Posting" and you always get your defaults with each new post.

*LOL* Is that what that check box does?!!? I'm almost embarassed to admit that I'm on the dev team.

But, years of industry experience have given me the ability to say, "Not my component" :)

We wrote a patch for iJournal that allows the user to change the default security. Is there somewhere to make it available to others?

Here's a screenshot, incase anyone is interested.

And here's the patch.

Since the nib file is hard to make patches for, you'll need to make the changes in interface builder by hand to show the menu. Create the outlet called "defaultSecurity" and connect it to the menu.

Or, you could just email Cryo to join the Dev team. Check the dev site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ijournal/

The patch looks great and anyone else willing to roll up their sleeves will probably be greatly appreciated :)

Re: *lol*

Not sure that I'm interested in joining the Dev team, but thanks for the compliment! Actually my husband did the patch, not me. I'm just the one who wanted it. ;-)

Re: *lol*
Okay, I submitted the patch and picture to the dev list. We've been a little slow lately. I'm hoping this will pick up again.

Re: *lol*
Just thought I'd put in my two cents to say that this is *exactly* what I want iJournal to have!

Thanks to your hubby, xara!
