I've never tried it with a shared playlist in iTunes 4, but it works fine with streamed content from sources that were supported before iTunes 4 (like the Radio feature in iTunes and anything streaming from a website that gets played in iTunes) so it should work fine. I don't have a second computer handy at the moment to test it.

Re: What is CVS?
Concurrent Versioning System (open source software), use the apple dev tools to compile a new version of iTunes (not for n00bs) The whole reason it doens't work anymore is cause there was a revamp in the ID3 tags on iTunes. If you notice that you can have album art now, that's been out forever and never supported by iTunes for some odd reason. ID3 is what makes the song have info inside the MP3, mostly referred to a "tag" or "tagging"

Re: What is CVS?
Actually, the ID3 tags have nothing to do with it.

iJournal checks to see if you're running iTunes version 2 or version 3, and if you're not, it doesn't get the song you're playing.

The version of iJournal in the CVS now adds a line to check if you're running version 4, and then does exactly what it did if you were running 2 or 3.

As far as I know, the source for iTunes is not available unless you work for Apple, so you won't be able to compile a new version.

Ah, never bothered to check. If it's just a number issue then I might get around to it before the relase comes out, first I have to get Adium 2 stable ><. You can get a clone of iTunes source, it works about the same only you can change stuff around and no one wants to use it due it being about 1000% unstable and you have to recompile about 3 times a day. Other then that, it's a good prog =^P.

Can someone compile it and post it somewhere as an unofficial release?

This is not a real fix, though
Why did you not actually fix the problem instead of just patching it so that you will have to fix it again for iTunes 5?

I have code that will fix this problem forever and I would really like to see it make its way in since it would be nice to know that we aren't going to have this huge mess happen next time Apple ups the version number.

I posted it here:

Anyone interested?
